It was an emotionally charged week for the Buffalo Bills organization and their fans. To kick things off, the team was sold to the current owner of the Buffalo Sabres hockey team. When that deal was finalized, it confirmed the fact that the Bills would in fact be staying in Buffalo. Then, Jim Kelly announced he was cancer free and spoke before the game. The team also had the legendary Andre Reed lead the team out onto the field. Add to the fact that this was the home opener after a big win last week and it was easy to see that the Bills had a huge advantage before the ball was even kicked off.
The Dolphins could’ve reversed that though if they brought the same amount of intensity but they failed to do so. Why? It’s anyone’s guess.
It was a big game for them,” Dolphins cornerback Will Davis said. “We knew the energy coming into it was going to be crazy. They warned us about it, all the things going on — Jim Kelly and all that stuff, new ownership staying in Buffalo. We knew it was going to be high energy and it was.”
“They had a lot of intensity,” Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace said. “We weren’t close to their intensity.”
The Dolphins seemed to rely on Knowshon Moreno and his intensity last week but after he left the game early with an injury, there was no one to turn to in order to get pumped up and ready. Someone will need to step up in Moreno’s place and get the team ready to go every Sunday from the moment they step onto the field.
