Despite what most people think, the offense isn’t having problems just because of Ryan Tannehill. Lineman are missing assignments and blocks, receivers are dropping passes and running the wrong routes and players that have produced in the past, such as Charles Clay, have disappeared. On Monday, Bill Lazor went into more detail about the various issues.
“I don’t want to put any more emphasis on a dropped pass than on a missed block in protection or on a missed throw. That’s what guys get paid to do and I think every one of them, if they stood up here, they would tell you that they expect to make that play and we expect them to make those.”
In regards to Charles Clay and his lack of production, Lazor didn’t have much of an answer.
“It’s hard for me to answer what they’ve done here in the past because I think we had him for one series in the preseason, so that was kind of my past with him. I have to do a great job evaluating myself and if I’m calling the right things and putting him in the right position or not.”
If everyone can get on the same page, this offense can be explosive. If that is to happen though, it needs to happen fast before the season gets out of hand.
