One of the most dangerous things a team in the National Football League can do is take a team lightly. After all, these are all professionals and extremely talented and gifted athletes. On any given Sunday, anything can happen despite a team’s record and despite what they look like on paper. Fortunately, for the Dolphins, they have leaders in place such as Jared Odrick who can let everyone know that they can’t slack off in preparation for the game.
“Each week you don’t take your opponent lightly, and, if you do, you’re making a huge mistake because it is the NFL,” Odrick said. “It’s the premier league for football where you have great athletes, great player, and great coaching all across the board. You can’t underestimate anybody or anything that you’re going up against.”
Some have said that the Chiefs will be hungrier coming into this game because they are 0-2 right now but Odrick says that the team isn’t worried about it.
“That’s something the Chiefs have to worry about. We have to worry about being 2-1. Since we are 1-1, we obviously have the goal in mind and that’s to take each game one at a time and to win one game at a time. We’re looking at being 2-1 and we’re not worried about the Chiefs and what their record may be.”
The Dolphins will get somewhat of a break on Sunday with Jamaal Charles expected to be out but like everything else, he’s not getting his hopes up that the reserves are going to be complete slouches and do nothing.
“They’ve got great reserves. They’ve got guys right behind him who can pick up right where they left off. I think (Knile) Davis is the back that might be playing if he (Charles) doesn’t play. They’ve got a lot of guys on their roster who can make plays. Obviously, (Anthony) Fasano is on that side of the ball and he’s a great in-line blocker and also a great pass catcher. I’m sure they’ll utilize everything that they have and all the talent and skill that they have, and continue to run and pass the ball in the way they do.”
Having someone like Odrick on the team can pay huge dividends off the field. Let’s hope the rest of the team gets the message that he’s trying to preach.
