Knowshon Moreno came to the Dolphins in the offseason out of shape and unable to fully participate in practices. Then, his knee surgery came and set him back even more. If any players or coaches were doubting his commitment and toughness during that time, all that has been thrown out the window after his 134 yards rushing and 1 touchdown performance yesterday.
“He broke some tackles. We’ve talked about that a lot, on how his job as a running back is not only get your shoulders square and get what’s there, but get a little extra,” Joe Philbin said. “Make a little move, be elusive, run a good pad level and get some extra yards after contact, and it appears he did a good job of that.”
“Yeah, rushing the football like that was unbelievable. We were able to use the no huddle in the second half to really put pressure on them and kind of wear them out a little bit, Ryan Tannehill said. “Knowshon’s in another world which I love. Don’t talk to him too much. Let him pace around and huff and puff and stare off into the distance but once he has the ball in his hands he’s going downhill. That’s what you want.””
Despite the praise that Moreno received from others on the team, he was quick to give credit for his success to the others around him.
“Last year is last year. I’m focused on this year, focused on what we have to do to move forward. Like I said earlier, it starts up front. I can’t do this by myself. No one can do it by themselves. Everyone is working together. It was just a real good team win. It felt good to put points on the board. I don’t really remember it.”
