The Miami Dolphins signed running back Knowshon Moreno in the offseason to a one-year deal. Before the offseason workouts concluded though, Moreno had to have his knee scoped and as a result, is out of live action for several weeks. Unfortuntaely though, it seems as if it might take him a while to get back on the field. You see, Moreno can barely walk, let alone run and after he does his rehab assignments, he has ice packs tied to both of his knees. Moreno seems to understand that he still has a while to go before he gets back on the field.
“I feel good, but at the same time, I just want to be right, be real good, so when I go out there, I can just be full-speed and not have any setbacks,” said Moreno. “I don’t know [when I'll be back]. I don’t know. I really don’t even know. I just want to take each day one at a time. They have a schedule for me and they’re just going to tell me every day what I have to do, and I just go out there and do it.”
During each practice, Moreno does rehab exercises with Mike Pouncey on the side and as a result, he's losing out on time to show the coaches what he can do.
“I don’t have a great familiarity with him as a player, so it’s hard for me to project that,” head coach Joe Philbin said. “I think it’s better that he’s a veteran and has played a lot of football. I think it’s a little bit easier for a guy like that to get right back into the thick of things.”
“To tell you truth, I’m not even worried about that,” Moreno said about starting. “That’s not my decision. The only thing I can do is what I do out here on the field and get better each day. Whatever the decision the coaches make, it’s the decision the coaches make. But at the same time, I feel like any one in that backfield, any one of those backs, can be a starter or help this team in some way.”
