The Miami Dolphins lost to the Buffalo Bills on September 14, 29-10. It was a game that wasn't close from the very beginning as the Bills dominated the team throughout all four quarters.
The Dolphins offense struggled to get anything going on offense and the defense was only to hold up for so long. In addition, the special teams unit made several key blunders that lead to at least 14 points being put up on the board. When you have that many miscues and things going wrong, it's tough to win, especially on the road in a place like Buffalo.
The Dolphins finished the game with 290 yards of total offense compared to 315 for the Buffalo Bills but a lot of those stats for the Dolphins came at the end of the game when the contest was clearly decided. Ryan Tannehill finished the day with 241 yards passing on 31 completions and 49 attempts. Tannehill added one interception at the end of the game when they were driving down the field in an attempt at a meaningless touchdown.
The Dolphins defense had trouble containing the Bills offense and allowed Sammy Watkins to pick up 117 receiving yards on 8 receptions. CJ Spiller had 69 yards rushing and Fred Jackson added 24. While the defense did well early on, it gradually became too much for them to continue to bail out the offense almost every time they came onto the field.
We'll have full coverage of the game going into tomorrow morning and over the next few days before turning our attention to the Kansas City Chiefs.
