Miami Dolphins guard Mike Pouncey has been name to the Pro Bowl squad as a replacement for San Francisco guard Mike Iupati. This marks the second consecutive Pro Bowl appearance for Pouncey, the Dolphins' first-round pick in 2010. Pouncey went to the Pro Bowl last season as a center.
Pouncey missed the first four games of this season, as well as the entire training camp, after having surgery on his left hip to repair a torn labrum. The Dolphins signed veteran center Samson Satele to fill-in during Pouncey's absence. But he played so well the Dolphins decided to move Pouncey to right guard, a position he was playing for the first time in the NFL.
Pouncey will join his twin brother, Maurkice, a center for Pittsburgh, on the Pro Bowl team. He has said that playing with his brother in the all-star game is a career goal. Maurkice has played in the game following the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons. Mike had made it after the 2013 season.
Pouncey is the third Dolphins player to be named to this year's Pro Bowl, joining cornerback Brent Grimes and defensive end Cam Wake. Pouncey has said he wants to move back to center next season. The Pro Bowl is Jan. 25 in Arizona.
