Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com recently broke down the AFC East and gave his analysis of the current Miami Dolphins team. To begin, he asks whether or not Knowshon Moreno will make an impact on the Dolphins this season and whether or not he fits new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor’s scheme. Like Rosenthal mentions, Moreno is coming off knee surgery and showed up to camp out of shape. Rosenthal ultimately believes that it is Lamar Miller’s job to lose.
He also talked about quarterback Ryan Tannehill. At this point, it might be easier to ask who hasn’t talked about Tannehill and his development. More specifically though, he said that the health of Brian Hartline and Mike Wallace will go a long way towards determing his success this year as he believes that there is not enough depth in the wide receiver unit to make up for either of those players missing a significant amount of time.
Finally, he offered his thoughts about cornerback Cortland Finnegan and calls it a strange offseason gamble considering his price tag coming off a rough year. Finnegan will be involved in a training camp battle with Jamar Taylor and Will Davis and would love to see one of the young guys step up and grab a hold of the starting position.
Some of these questions will be answered during training camp but others will take a few weeks into the season to really get a feel for what this Dolphins team is all about in 2014. The good news is that we don’t have to wait much longer as training camp officially opens on July 25!
