Ryan Tannehill has been shaky in various areas so far during the regular season and while it's still early, there are some lingering concerns that offensive coordinator Bill Lazor said they need to get fixed immediately. In his press conference today, Lazor spoke about Tannehill and in a way, called him out and said he expects more of him.
“There’s no doubt Ryan would tell you it needs to improve. Last Thursday, he was the best I've ever seen. Ball placement is what separates the great ones and the good ones from the barely there ones. No one is perfect. We grade it every day in practice."
When talking about whether or not Tannehill's confidence has been damaged in any way, whether from his first two years or from anything this year, Lazor responded rather bluntly.
“That’s up to Ryan. These are big guys here. These are grownups. These are guys who have had a lot of success. I do believe that confidence is a part in how they play. I also believe that they better learn how to get their own confidence going. I think confidence comes from working and perfecting. You can’t make it up. I can give him a pep talk, but that's not going to be real confidence.”
We'll see if Tannehill can bounce back against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. He has a pretty good chance to do so as Kansas City defense has allowed one of the highest QB ratings in the NFL in the first two weeks.
