When Ryan Tannehill was in high school and college, he watched Aaron Rodgers make his presence known in the NFL. While he respects him, he’s not getting overly excited about the fact that Rodgers will be the quarterback on the other side of the field.
“I’m not really [excited] because it doesn’t affect what I do directly. You have to go play week in and week out and we have a lot of respect for their team and their offense and their defense as well. When you play a good offense in general, you understand that you’re going to have to put up a lot of points and we understand that.”
Tannehill was careful to show respect to Rodgers and admits he watches tape of him in the offseason to see what he does well and how he himself can become a better quarterback.
“Yeah, of course. I’m a football fan. I love watching the game. When I was in college was when he got to be one of the better guys in the league. In 2010, they won the Super Bowl. I was right in the heart of my college career. Yeah, I watched him, take a look at his tape during the offseason, see the things he does well. He does a lot of things well, but I’m not worried about him right now.”
Tannehill is right. It’s not him vs. Rodgers. It’s the Miami Dolphins vs. the Green Bay Packers and it needs to be an entire team effort.
