Ryan Tannehill was a different player in second half against the Packers

Ryan Tannehill had a miserable first half against the Green Bay Packers but in the second half, turned things around and was a different player. For that, he credited the fact that guys finally started stepping up and making plays.

“I think guys were making plays. You saw some short passes where guys were breaking a tackle and making a guy miss, getting extra yardage. That mindset [and] that attitude translates to the whole offense and once we started doing that, we started moving the ball and making more plays.”

One of the plays that sparked the offense in the second half was when Tannehill took off on a 40-yard run on a read-option play.

“Yea, it’s a read just like most of our runs. I saw that I can get around the edge and I ran. I felt great going into the huddle just to start the second half. I felt like we had an attitude about ourselves. The look on everyone’s face was [one of] ‘hey, we’re about to go win this thing’. We didn’t play well in the first half as a unit but we’re in this game. [The] defense kept us in it and we’re going to go make plays and win this thing.”

Ultimately though, the Dolphins didn’t win and the way they lost it makes it that more heartbreaking for not only the fans, but the players and coaches who do this for a living every day.

“It’s tough. Knowing that we didn’t play well in the first half [and how we] fought ourselves back in [and] made a bunch of plays in the second half [but] didn’t get it done right there at the end with [our] offense or defense, makes it hurt that much more.”
