When Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tommy Streeter was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2012 draft, he was wearing Dolphins gear. Two years later, he’s finally back to home in the city where he grew up.
“It means a lot,” Streeter told the Miami Dolphins website. “Growing up in Miami, being a Miami native, all you know is the University of Miami and the Miami Dolphins. To be home, it was always kind of a dream of mine, a selfish desire of mine. At the end of the day, I would have been happy with a job opportunity anywhere, but if I had it my way, I would like to be home. Just thankful for the opportunity.”
When he heard the Dolphins wanted to sign him to their practice squad, he couldn’t have been more ecstatic.
“Oh man, I had chills,” he said. “I couldn’t even tell you what I was feeling. It was one of those things, you ever heard somebody tell a joke and nobody is laughing and they’re like, bro, you just had to be there to experience it? It was one of those things. I was like, I can’t even explain it. I was happy, man, just to be home and around support, family and community. I love Miami.”
