![]() After much excitement last night in regards to the new drug policy being passed, it appears that the agreement has not yet been finalized. Instead, there was quite a lot of mis-communication going on between the NFL, the NFLPA, the players and the media. There was even so much confusion going on last night that it was to the point where NFL.com had a story about Dion Jordan and Reshad Jones being able to return while at the same time, NFL league spokesman Greg Aiello said that no agreement was reached! Let's take a look at what's really going on at this current time. Last night, the NFLPA released a statement that said that they had approved the new drug policy. It reads as follows: The NFLPA Board of Representatives tonight voted to approve new policies for both substances of abuse and performance enhancing drugs. "This is an historic moment for our Players and our League,” said NFLPA President Eric Winston. “We have collectively bargained drug policies that will keep the game clean and safe, but also provide our players with an unprecedented level of fairness and transparency. Players should be proud of their union for standing up for what was best for the game.” “We stood up and fought for what was right,” said DeMaurice Smith,NFLPA executive director. “Twenty-five years ago it was NFL players that set out to make the game clean by asking for and collectively bargaining the first drug testing policy in professional sports. Today, this union and these player leaders have approved a policy that will serve the game well for generations of players to come.” According to Chris Mortensen, the biggest hurdle left before the deal is complete is the status of the suspended players for this weekend's games. While the reports came out about various players coming back, teams and players have not been officially notified of any changes in status. However, even if the deal is officially approved later today by the NFL, it is doubtful that Jordan and Jones would play tomorrow, especially if they get re-instated after the plane takes off from Miami.
