In the first two days of training camp, Brandon Gibson has lined up as the starting slot receiver ahead of Rishard Matthews and Jarvis Landry. Gibson, who suffered a patellar tear in the middle of last season, was having a great year and had formed great chemistry with Ryan Tannehill.
Gibson will have to compete every day as rookie Jarvis Landry is right on his tail along with Rishard Matthews. Landry has made several circus catches over the past two days and has impressed a lot of people with his hands. In addition, he has the eyes of owner Stephen Ross, which is something that can't be discounted.
If Gibson continues as is, former Dolphins receiver OJ McDuffie believes that he will hold onto the starting job but thinks that the Dolphins will then go to more four wide receiver sets in order to get Landry on the field as often as possible.
This will certainly be a battle worth watching as I believe that Landry and Matthews will give Gibson a run for his money over the next several weeks. In addition to those two, Armon Binns, Damian Williams, Marcus Thigpen and Matt Hazel are all fighting to make the team.
