![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs Caleb Sturgis had a rough training camp as he was battling a groin injury for the second straight year. In addition, he saw the Dolphins bring in numerous kickers to push Sturgis and give him competition. In the end though, Sturgis prevailed despite being extremely limited. Now, he's ready to kick on Sunday. "I feel bad. I want to be part of the team," Sturgis told the Sun-Sentinel. "Especially at this position [because] you get limited opportunities to begin with. At the same time you got to stay confident [believing] that you're going to get healthy, and when you do get healthy you're going to do your job well. I feel great now." The Dolphins are ready to call another kicker though, even as early as this week if they feel that Sturgis won't be 100% on Sunday. Head Coach Joe Philbin admitted this as much. "He's our kicker right now. We'll see how the week unfolds, but we are very confident in him," said Philbin. The Dolphins need to make sure that Sturgis is at 100% for Sunday's game. While it's only the first game of the season, it's an extremely important one due to the fact that the Dolphins are playing a division opponent. Anything less than 100% should push the Dolphins towards the telephone to get another kicker to handle the kicks on Sunday.
