![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs Cameron Wake wants to see more consistency from all three phases of the team because that’s the only way the team is going to do well each week throughout the remainder of the season. In addition, while he didn’t directly say that the Chiefs wore the defense down, he hinted that the defense were put in a lot of tough spots as the game went on and they could only do so much. “You got to come out and start fresh. You’ve got to jump on a team, you can’t always be chasing from behind. So, I don’t know, since preseason it seems like, halftime, we are fighting out of the hole. You can’t play and win in this league like that, so, you got to go get out there in front, and then the whole game changes when you’re playing in front. So, we got to find a way to get out there in front,” he said. “It was just, times where you needed to make a play, it just seemed like it just slipped through our fingers. You go there and you get a three and out or out, or you get a big stop, you get a touchdown drive, and you flip it, and then we got kickoff returns, and three and outs on offense and long drives on defense, I mean you can’t play roller coaster football, you got to go out there and play consistent on every down.” Seconds later, he said that regardless of the situation the defense is in, they need to step up and make the plays when they are needed. “I think, when you play this game as a defense, it doesn’t matter, the situation. I don’t care where the ball gets spotted. On your own 20 or their 20, you have to go out there and your job is to keep them out of the end zone and keep points off the board. To go out there at times kind of do that and dominate, and then at times, just not be able to kind of stop the bleeding, again, that’s a big problem.” This sentiment was echoed by numerous players on the team, which we’ve highlighted here on the page. At this point, the Dolphins are not playing united and cohesive football and if they want to start winning, they’ll need to all get on the same page.
