The Miami Dolphins have met with free safety Cedric Thompson and defensive tackle Darius Kilgo in the pre-draft process. Thompson, who played at Minnesota and Kilgo, who played at Maryland, are both expected to be either selected in the late part of the draft or sign as an undrafted free agent. This news comes courtesy of Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Neither prospect was featured in the PhinManiacs Draft Guide but here's what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com said about Thompson: "Combination safety with above average athletic traits and size, but plays with below average instincts and isn't as trustworthy as teams will like on the back end. Thompson seems slow to see things on tape and uses his athleticism to make up for it. If he can be trained to recognize and react more quickly, he has a shot at making a roster."
In regards to Kilgo, here is his analysis: "Kilgo's frame carries his weight well, but he's missing the power necessary to play the nose. Kilgo rarely threatens the gap as a penetrator and he struggles to hold up against double teams. Kilgo's lack of aggressive temperament and pure strength could make him a tough sell on draft day."
It appears the Dolphins are doing their due diligence on all draft prospects, much like every other team in the NFL. These are just two names to add to the growing list of pre-draft contact and visits.
