![]() Quotes prepared by the Miami Dolphins Here are quotes that didn’t make it into any of our stories from Joe Philbin, Ryan Tannehill and others following the loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon. Miami Dolphins Head Coach Joe Philbin (On the televised exchange with defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle.) – “That was in the heat of the game. I don’t even really remember any words exchanged between Kevin and I.” (On the reasoning behind punting on fourth-and-three when on the plus side of the fifty yard line.) – “I wanted to get to the locker room and keep it a one possession game. It was fourth-and-three at midfield, the wind was blowing that way pretty strong, and we felt that they might be able to kick it strongly.” (On if RB Knowshon Moreno was available late in the game.) – “Those were just the players we decided to play in the game.” (On the effect the returning players – DT Randy Starks, C Mike Pouncey, LB Koa Misi, and S Reshad Jones – had on the game.) – “I thought they gave our team a lift. It was good to have them back.” (On seeing Green Bay’s two starting corners leave the game and taking advantage of their absence.) – “We did. We did at different times. We sure did. I thought sometimes we threw some underneath routes, went deep a couple of times. Yep, I thought we called a good game in the second half. The guys made some plays, but we just didn’t make enough. They made more in the fourth quarter.” Miami Dolphins Quarterback Ryan Tannehill (What do you think has contributed to these slow starts? Four of the five games that you guys have played, you really don’t wake up until the second half) – “I don’t know. I don’t think [that] it’s one thing in particular. I can’t say [that] it’s one thing or another.” (What did [the return of offensive lineman] Mike Pouncey do for the offense line [and] for the offense [as far as an] inspirational lift and on the field?) – “It’s always nice to have [offensive linemen] Mike [Pouncey] back. It’s a good player [and] a good personality. [He’s] intense and wants to be great in the huddle. He brings a fire to that offensive line. It’s always nice to have him back.” Miami Dolphins Receiver Mike Wallace (What has contributed to all the slow starts for the team this season?) – “I honestly couldn’t even tell you. I wish I did know so we could tell coach and we could fix it. I feel like our guys have fire, I don’t know if we just settle in more, but we just have to. You see what happens when we get a fast start and when we get a slow start, so obviously we want to get a fast start.” Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy (What was different in the second half defensively when the Dolphins were able to move the ball? Was the heat kind of wearing people down?) – “(The heat) was going to be a factor. They looked like they were challenged by it too. It was tough to play in for both teams. I thought the Dolphins did an excellent job with particular adjustments they made in the run game. They were successful with it. They made some big plays. (Ryan) Tannehill made some excellent plays. He had the big run off of the read option there. You know, big-time throw for the touchdown on the blitz with two guys in his face. So, we gotta give the Dolphins credit.” (Was the idea with six seconds to go to try to do something really quick? You were trying to squeeze two plays of the six seconds?) – “I mean, ideally. Let’s be real, the defense has a little bit to say about that. We actually had a similar set earlier in the game were they doubled our slots. That’s what we were anticipating. Aaron made the adjustment to Andrew Quarless and an excellent throw and an excellent route.” Comments are closed.
