![]() Quotes prepared by the Miami Dolphins The following quotes, which didn't make it into any of our stories on the site today, were from Monday's press conferences with Joe Philbin, Bill Lazor and Kevin Coyle. Head Coach Joe Philbin (On if it is more difficult to move on from in-game decisions when the game was decided on the last play of the game)– “When you lose a game with three seconds to go in a game, it’s tough. Again, I thought the guys gave good effort. It was a good, hard-fought football game. It’s tough to lose any Sunday. None of them are fun, so yeah it was tough. But I’ll gladly talk about any specific decision that I made. Obviously, that’s what I get paid to do. Some of them I wish worked out better, but if there’s something you want to talk about, I’ll be glad to talk about it.” (On what LB Philip Wheeler meant when he said he hadn’t practiced the play where Green Bay scored the final touchdown)– “You would have to ask him that.” (On how S Reshad Jones played yesterday) – “I thought for his first time, I thought he did a good job for his first time back.” (Opening statement)– “After watching the film, a lot of things I said after the game yesterday I still believe in. I have to do a better job, first and foremost. I’m the head coach. We had a lead with four minutes to go and, as I’ve said often, you win as a team, you lose as a team. There are things we could have done better in all three phases, coaching as well, and we need to do better. We need to do better. We need to finish the game better. I thought our guys played hard. Obviously, we didn’t win the game.” (On if he was comfortable with the coverage he had on Green Bay’s final touchdown)– “Yeah, again, it’s a coverage we know. It’s a coverage we’ve practice. It’s something we do and believe in. It’s easy to say that play cost us the game. There are 170 plays in the game. There’s a lot of plays prior to that one that certainly could have changed the outcome of the game, so I don’t want to blame that play on the loss.” (On if he didn’t know exactly what LB Philip Wheeler meant when he said he hadn’t practiced for that final touchdown play all week)– “I do not know what he meant. You should ask him what he meant by that. I don’t know if they ran the play. I can’t sit here and tell you if they ran that play in practice, so I don’t want to give you bad information. I do know that our linebackers cover tight ends in practice, a lot.” Offensive Coordinator Bill Lazor (On if QB Ryan Tannehill should have called out of the fourth down play on the goal line)– “No.” (On if it is coaching or players that result in slow starts to games)– “There’s lots of reasons why it could happen.” Defensive Coordinator Kevin Coyle (On how he would rate S Reshad Jones’ play in his first action of the season)– “I thought he had a solid performance, solid, winning performance.” Comments are closed.
