The newest member of the Miami Dolphins, tight end Jordan Cameron, was introduced to the South Florida media on Friday morning. General Manager Dennis Hickey kicked things off by saying that Cameron is a quality player who has been to the Pro Bowl who brings big play making ability and someone who can create mismatches all over the field. Hickey noted that they like to bring in players so they can get acclimated to the building and to really get a sense of who they are and to also show players what they have to offer as well.

It was then Cameron's time to speak and answer questions. Here are a summary of his remarks from the press conference:

  • The Dolphins were aggressive and talks started heating up in the afternoon. He said the Cleveland Browns did offer him a contract but said it's the craziness of free agency. Cameron admitted there were other teams involved but said Miami is where he wanted to be.
  • Cameron noted that the system in Miami is a good fit for him. He likes the quarterback situation and noted everyone was saying good things about Ryan Tannehill throughout the day.
  • The cutting edge technology in regards to sports science and analytics played a big part in Cameron signing with the Dolphins. He says that it will help players
  • As far as concussions go, Cameron said that he has seen many specialists and his baseline is the same as it was six years ago. He's not worried about and says the Dolphins aren't worried about it either. Cameron noted that he is certain he can get back to a health level of 100%.
  • Cameron said that football is something that he's always been good out and despite being a basketball star, football has always been the path he knew he was going to take. In his first two years in the league, he spent a lot of time refining his technique and becoming a better player.
  • In regards to Ndamukong Suh, Cameron said having him definitely helps brings players but it says more so about the organization in regards to their commitment to winning and creating building blocks for the future.
  • Cameron said that one of the things that was sold to him was the fact that he would get a lot of red zone opportunities. However, he said he was more drawn to the coaches, front office and organization as a whole.
  • When asked to describe his style of play for people who have never seen him play, Cameron said that he can run down the field and that he can win.
  • Cameron ended the press conference by saying he would be at voluntary workouts and is looking forward to it.
