When the Dolphins signed Shelley Smith in the offseason, it was expected that he would come in as a starter and find a home on the offensive line right away. Unfortunately, it hasn't quite worked out that way. After the failed experiment at center, the team has moved Smith to the second team left guard position to battle with Daryn Colledge.
“I’m rotating with Shelley. Shelley’s out there fighting to be the starting left guard also," Colledge said.
Colledge, who was signed on June 30, has had a little trouble picking up the system himself but head coach Joe Philbin hopes that the development will continue.
“I don’t think it’s all the way there yet, but I’m hoping there is more development coming in the next couple of weeks," Philbin said.
