![]() Written by Matthew Cannata General Manager Dennis Hickey has waited almost 20 years to be a general manager and now that he has the title, he couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming season. In a media session before practice began this morning, he mentioned just how happy he is. “That’s the great thing about training camp,” Hickey said. “When the fans get a glimpse of what we’re doing here and see what (the players) can do. We’re really excited about this team and what they’re going to be able to accomplish. “Our players are in a great place,” said Hickey, who indicated that every player passed the conditioning test Thursday. “They’re real excited to get back on the football field. Our attendance (in the offseason) was as good as I’ve seen in my 18 years. That indicates their mind-set is about winning.” Hickey took some criticism for drafting a lot of small school players but if the Dolphins make the playoffs this year, he will be around for another year to see if his strategy continues to pay off.
