Back in January, I reported that Dan Marino was in talks with the Miami Dolphins organization to come back and have a prominent role. While things have moved slowly on that front, discussions are still alive and sooner rather than later, he will be back with the Dolphins in an official capacity.
The hold-up right now is the fact that Marino wants to be more than a figurehead position. It’s up to Stephen Ross, Tom Garfinkle and Dennis Hickey to sit down with Marino and figure out the best position for him where he can have an impact on the daily affairs of the team.
On Wednesday, Marino attended practice for the second time in seven days and spoke with Joe Philbin and Dennis Hickey separately for about ten minutes each. He spent the majority of practice with Dawn Aponte and also had conversations with Cortland Finnegan, Reshad Jones and Brent Grimes during a break.
“He was here to observe and chat,” Joe Philbin said. “Great to have him here. I told him he’s always welcomed anytime.”
