![]() The officiating in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens was spotty and that might be putting it nicely. There were several questionable calls that were thrown at the Miami Dolphins and earlier this week, Joe Philbin requested a formal review of Mike Pouncey's ineligible man down field penalty. Philbin expects to hear back from the league offices today but he admits that he isn't too concerned whether or not the referees got it right or wrong and instead, is doing it mainly for feedback. “I think (sending calls to the league) is good. It’s always good to get feedback. Just like coaches and players, I’ve said many times that nobody is perfect. Certainly, there are always improvements I can make in coaching, there are improvements players can make and there are always improvements. I like to have an open dialogue with the league in regards to officiating. Everybody wants to get it right.” If the review does come back and says that the referees were wrong, will Philbin be upset? He says no. “It’s football. At the end of the day, and I don’t know if I’ve ever done a study, but things tend to have a way of kind of evening out over time.” It's things like this that are growing thin on Dolphins fans. Philbin doesn't stick up for his guys in public much and instead, uses a lot of coach-speak. These two calls had a direct impact in the outcome of the game and it would be nice to sometimes see the head coach stick up for the locker room. This story was written by Matthew Cannata.
