Henry Hodgson of NFL.com created a supplemental mock draft. Let me repeat that - a mock draft has been created for the 2014 supplemental draft, which will take place on Thursday, July 10. While I doubt that supplemental mock drafts will get to the level and hype of regular mock drafts, it's still interesting to see what the so-called experts think will happen.
Four players are eligible this year - DL LaKendrick Ross, RB Traylon Shead, WR Chase Clayton and LB Darius Lipford. Hodgson predicts that the Miami Dolphins will select Shead in the seventh round. This would mean that they would forfeit their seventh round pick in the 2015 draft. Shead is 6'2 and weighs 215 pounds. Coming out of high school, he committed to the University of Texas but soon ended up at Junior College. He then made his way back up to SMU last year - for four games. In those four games, he gained a whopping 197 yards.
The Dolphins were one of nine teams who attended Shead's workout the other day. It would be hard-pressed to see the Dolphins selecting Shead in the supplemental draft but if they have real concerns about Moreno along with the development of Mike Gilislee, it could be something worth paying attention to.
