Dolphins New Years Notes

• Offensive Line Progress From 2019 - 2020 Miami's dismal line from 2019 gave up 58 sacks in 16 games in 2019. A brand-new unit of rookies, a few FA's and Jesse Davis, head into Game 16 on Sunday, only allowing 33. Still work to be done - but not bad for a line with 3 rookies.

• Mike Gesicki is in striking distance (from a far) to become the Dolphins single season leader for tight end receiving yards. 135 away from @randymac81 . With 656, a missed game, and an damaged shoulder, 88 plays a Bills team he has more yardage against in his career than any other.

 

• Gesicki is truly on MIAMI Franchise record watch. He Has 6 receiving touchdowns this season. He needs two more to set new single-season team tight ends record. 2 scores and 136 yards makes him Miami's single-season undisputed TE King.
• Currently - Xavien Howard is tied for 12th on the All-Time Miami Dolphins INT list, sharing that with Reshad Jones at 21 picks.

 

• Jason Sanders has put up 136 points on the scoreboard in 2020. He is 8 points away from tying Olindo Mare's single season Franchise scoring record of 144. It could happen.

 

• In Week 2 against the Bills, Miami RB Myles Gaskin had 82 scrimmage yards and 6 receptions. He averaged 6.5 yards per carry on his 7 rushing attempts.

 

• Perspective tweet- MIA's current roster (44.2%) were drafted by MIA. (51.9%) began their NFL careers w/ MIA (21.2%) were not selected in the NFL draft. (94.2%) are 28 yrs old or younger 13 6th/7th rounders 11 UDFA 30+ Million Cap Space Loaded Draft 10-5 Happy New Year.

 

• Worth repeating. MIA posted a 22-12 win in Wk15 vs NE w/ the Pats getting 12 points off FGs. It marked the 3rd different time this season MIA didn’t allow a touchdown. The Saints are the only other team to accomplish that this season. The last time MIA did this in a season - '11.

 

• Jakeem Grant is STILL the NFLs leading punt returner with his 330 punt return yards this year.

 

• Kyle Van Noy is a leader and performing as such. Van Noy’s 10 tackles for loss this year are 2nd on the team and his 6 sacks rank 3rd.

 

• Quality over quantity. Matt Breida His 4.90 rushing average is 7th in the NFL since he entered the league in 2017 (min. 350 att.)
  

• A win at Buffalo on Sunday will not only make the playoffs a reality for Miami, it will also make it their 16th victory in the past 25 games dating back to last season. And amazingly would make Coach Brian Flores 16-16.
