![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs We know that Knowshon Moreno is out for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs so it will be up to Lamar Miller, Damien Williams, Daniel Thomas and Orleans Darkwa to carry the load and make up for the loss of Moreno. With Miller listed as the number one back and Williams listed as the number two back, one might assume that Miller will receive the majority of the touches. However, Joe Philbin said that isn’t necessarily the case. “We haven’t really decided the play time. We’ll decide that tomorrow night. I like Lamar Miller, I like what he’s done, and how much he gets the ball on Sunday kind of remains to be seen. He’s done a good job.” Philbin did say that Miller was doing a much better job this season but noted that he still needs to improve and he’s waiting for Miller to break out and finally fulfill all of his potential that the team knows he has. “I like his development. I think I’ve said before, he had maybe 250 yards his rookie year, 700-and-change last year. I expect him to perform better this year. Certainly, when you have the ball third down and it’s on your body and there is an opportunity to gain a first down and then some, you’ve got to make that play. I’m sure he would say the same thing, so there are no excuses for that. I thought he caught the ball well today. He ran a couple. We got him the ball a couple of times down in the red zone, but I like where he is. I like what he’s done. I think he has potential for more and I would love to see more, whether it be breaking tackles, obviously catching the ball better, but I think he has the skills necessary to play on third down, for sure.” Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that Knowshon Moreno would like to return for the October 12 game against the Green Bay Packers so these running backs will need to step up and fill a huge void. Whether or not they can rise up to the challenge remains to be seen, but it looks like the coaching staff won’t hesitate to give the ball to the next man if others can’t produce.
