ESPN Insider recently ranked the NFL starting quarterbacks in different tiers and Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill came in as the 23rd ranked quarterback in the NFL. However, throughout the story, there were other opinions mixed in from people around the league.
One Pro Personnel Director ranked Tannehill in the second tier, which would make him a top 15 quarterback. One defensive coordinator said that they didn’t fear Tannehill when he was on the field but partly attributed that to the poor play of the offensive line and their inability to protect him. Another Pro Personnel Director said that he expects him to jump into the second tier under the new offense of Bill Lazor.
The worst quarterback in the league according to these rankings? Geno Smith of the New York Jets.
We all know that this is a big year for Tannehill and it appears that opinions throughout the league are mixed on him. This is rightly so, as Tannehill has had mixed results over the past two years. Year three is the year that almost all quarterbacks take the next step if they are going to be considered in the top tier of their position in the NFL.
