James Walker of ESPN.com is continuing his series of looking at the various position battles heading into training camp, which officially begins on Friday, July 25. The second cornerback position will definitely be a true battle with three competitors – Cortland Finnegan, Jamar Taylor and Will Davis.
All three have a different playing style and of course, Finnegan is the veteran of the three and the most established. They have all had the opportunity of having first-team repetitions throughout the offseason and that should be expected to continue in the first few weeks of camp.
Each of them bring something different to the defense so it will be more of what the coaches are looking for that fits the defense best at this time and maybe not necessarily the most talented of the group. Like Walker, I expect Finnegan to be the opening day starter due to his experience and savvy but Taylor along with Davis will certainly still make an impact in 2014.
