The discussion as to whether or not Mike Wallace should return to the Miami Dolphins will be one that intensifies as we move into the offseason. That's because during the season finale against the New York Jets, Wallace created a controversy by taking himself out of the game. Afterwards, he conducted a bizarre post-game interview where Brandon Gibson spoke for him and answered all of his questions. That led to fiery emotions from former players, fans, media and more. Several weeks later, the emotion is still raw and fans are still expressing their opinion. After we posted a column from Justin Lemanski regarding his thoughts about Mike Wallace, we went to Twitter and asked the fans for their reaction and opinion. Not surprisingly, it was mixed. Here are some of the best responses we got that were in favor of keeping him on the team.
There were also some who were indifferent and didn't care either way if the Dolphins kept Wallace or not.
Now, for the fans who want to see Wallace gone? There were quite a few of them. Please note that some of these tweets contain strong language. Since these are unfiltered opinions of fans, we felt it was best not to censor or leave anything out.
This will be an interesting thing to watch as we move into the next few months. Wallace is due a roster bonus in March so we should have our answer by then as to what the Dolphins plan to do with him moving forward. If they do get rid of him, it will create an unnecessary hole on the offense. However, would it be addition by subtraction? That will be up to Joe Philbin, Dennis Hickey and Mike Tannebaum to figure out. This column was written by Matthew Cannata. Follow him on Twitter: @PhinManiacs
