![]() Written by Luis Sung | Twitter: @FLSportDebater While last season saw head coach Joe Philbin going with a pretty unique schedule where his players had their off days on Thursday as opposed to the usual Tuesday, this year Philbin is taking a totally different approach and giving the players their off days on Monday. When Philbin was giving the team an off day on Thursdays, his line of thinking was that the team would be more rested up because their off day was later in the week instead of earlier. Whether it worked or not is debatable, but it's moot as now he's totally changing things. “Our strength and conditioning guys researched a lot of things, we talked to different people and studied what we did last year, some of the good things we thought we did and some of the not so good,” Philbin said of the schedule. It's quite possible that the "different people" he's referring to is new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, as when Lazor was the QB coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Chip Kelly decided that they would have their off days on Monday as well. Lazor is already being regarded as a potential head coach candidate by other teams, so if it is indeed true that this was Lazor's idea and it works, then the Dolphins will need to be careful to not lose him.
