![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs Jimmy Wilson has been heavily criticized the past two preseason games for his lack of effort when tackling the opposing players. This criticism can even be traced back to last season where he often gave up on the play or didn't give enough effort when trying to tackle the opponent. The bad news for Wilson is that Joe Philbin isn't happy about it, especially when he bounced off Mike Evans when trying to make a half-hearted tackle. "That's not how we tackle — throwing your shoulder into a guy and turning when you should be having your chin up, wrapping your arms and accelerating your feet," Philbin said. "That's not good enough. You can't tackle that way." Wilson understands he needs to get better and is working on changing his technique to make it happen. "I've been in the defense the last couple of years," Wilson said. "I've just got to stay on my keys and be patient back there. When you're on the back end, there's nobody there to recover for me. I've got to have more discipline in my play. You just got to know your depth and just the angles coming out of center field. That's one thing I've been working on the last couple weeks, just making sure my angels are tight." Wilson will be filling in for Reshad Jones while he serves his four game suspension for PED violations. If Wilson continues to struggle though, the coaching staff might not be hesitant to make a change.
