![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs The Miami Dolphins defense has had its up and down moments throughout the young season so far but Joe Philbin isn’t worried about them and in fact, has been pleased about the job they have been doing. “I think for the most part, going on the field, we’ve done a decent job getting after the ball, as far as getting turnovers, getting after the quarterback. I think another area where we have to work on is just being consistent. We’ve done a lot of things well, but we have to do it all of the time. You can’t stop the run one game and give up 100 yards the next. This league doesn’t work when you play up and down, up and down. You’ve got to play at a high level each week, week-in and week-out, if you want to kind of have your season go through it the way you want it to. Just being consistent is something we’ve definitely been working on, even in the bye week. I think when we do that, we’ve shown that we can play at a high level. We’ve just got to do it all of the time.” One of the key players on the defense is Cameron Wake, who plays with fire and energy every snap that he’s in the game. Philbin recognizes this and says that Wake is a big part of what they do on defense. “Well he is a big part of what we do on defense. He has been a real consistent performer since the day I got here. Thanks for reminding me about the production he had when I was coaching against him. But he is an excellent football player. He plays hard every play. He gets a lot of notoriety for getting after the quarterback, but we think when you watch him on film he plays the run hard, pursues to the ball hard, you’re going to get his best effort every single snap, so he is a big part of our defense.” The defense will have their hands full on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers and will have to bring their game to the next level if they want to walk away with a victory.
