![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs Joe Philbin is 52 years old, which is two years older than than Mike McCarthy but when they were together in Green Bay, McCarthy was the head coach and Philbin was the offensive coordinator. Thus, when they square off on Sunday, it will be Philbin playing the role of student and McCarthy playing the role of mentor. We’ve seen these types of situations play out before in many games and it’s always a toss-up as to which one wins. We see the mentor blow the student out many times but we’ve also seen the student sneak up and defeat the teacher. Despite the fact they worked together for so long in Green Bay, Philbin doesn’t expect to talk to him before the game on Sunday. “Yeah, probably not. We talk on occasion, but probably more text message. Everybody is so busy. There is not a lot of time for chit-chat. He’s very busy, I’m very busy and he’s got a large family of kids as do I. I don’t anticipate talking to him before the game.” That means they’ll talk to each other after the game with the obligatory handshake and we can only hope that McCarthy is the one congratulating Philbin on the Dolphins’ win.
