Last week, Knowshon Moreno said that he would be out at least another four weeks before returning to the field. However, Moreno was spotted at practice yesterday with a brace on his arm but reports came out and said that he looked good. This prompted speculation about him playing on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
“Sure, I’m always optimistic, but I’m a realist,” Joe Philbin said. “He has to prove out here that he can run, he can catch (and) he can run. He’s got to do a lot of things. If he could do all of those things, that would be great. We’ll have to see. In regards to the brace, I think it’s just a matter of him getting used to playing with it in practice. He’s got to get a feel of it and carrying the ball with it, pass protection. Obviously we just can’t have him in there when we are running the ball or free release him all the time. Those are things we take the practice week to figure out.”
Moreno said that it felt good to get back out there on the field and start shaking the rust off from his three week hiatus. While Moreno admitted he isn’t 100% and still needs to work out a little more the next couple of practices, he believes that if he continues on the current path, he can play on Sunday.
“At the end of the day, if I have to play, that’s what I’ll have to do. Just taking it day-by-day, seeing how it feels the next couple of days and then go from there.”
Moreno said that it was challenging for him to watch the games while he was out because of course, he wanted to be out on the field helping his team out. However, he was impressed with the way the running backs handled the position in his absence.
“They are doing their thing. The work they put in throughout the week prepares them for each week to go out, try to have a balanced offense, compete and try to come out with a win. They are doing a good job and everyone is working hard just to get better than we were the last few weeks.”
We’ll find out more information as the week progresses but it would no doubt be a huge boost to the Dolphins offense if they can get Moreno back for Sunday.
