Heading into the second preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Louis Delmas had issued a challenge to his teammates and led the way for a much improved effort after a lackluster performance against the Atlanta Falcons, especially when trying to tackle the opponent.
“I definitely think we had a chip on our shoulder,” said Delmas. “We had something to prove and we held grudges. We had a mind-set to come out this week and get that done.”
The Dolphins gave up two scores throughout the game so the improvement was definitely there. However, not all of the problems went away and Joe Philbin still thought there were issues with tackling.
“I don’t think our tackling was very good in the first half,” said Philbin. “I really didn’t, especially in the secondary. ... I thought we’d tackle better.”
