![]() Miami Dolphins Press Release The Miami Dolphins, through their Special Teams Driven by Chevy Volunteer program, partnered with AARP Foundation to pack and deliver ONE MILLION MEALS for individuals 50+ in South Florida and support Feeding South Florida with the donation. Over 4,000 volunteers donated their time, including a significant number of youth sports teams, churches and community groups, to pack 150,000 pounds of food for those less fortunate. “It was so exciting to be out here today. The energy inside and outside the tent was incredible. Seven percent of older Floridians are at risk of hunger each and every day,” AARP Foundation President Lisa Marsh Ryerson said. “It took a lot of people that were dedicated to the cause and the reason why it worked was because the Miami Dolphins and AARP Foundation were both committed to helping people in need in the community. These nutritious, high quality meals help people get food that will be incredibly meaningful in their lives.” “It was an amazing thing to see thousands of volunteers help pack meals today,” Miami Dolphins President & CEO Tom Garfinkel said. “It really hammers home the idea of stronger together for all of South Florida to join in this great event.” A spirited environment of altruism remained the theme of the day, with mascot T.D., Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, the Miami Dolphins Women’s Organization, over 25 Miami Dolphins Alumni and thousands of enthusiastic volunteers packed over 950,000 meals. In total, one million meals will be distributed in the South Florida community.
