The Miami Dolphins are set to meet with LSU cornerback Jalen Collins as part of their pre-draft process. This news comes courtesy of Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
According to Jeff Hyde (Twitter: @Jeff__Hyde), an analyst for the PhinManiacs Draft Guide, Collins is one of the most physically gifted cornerbacks in this year’s class. He has great size, build and length for the position and has the speed to keep up with top end wide receivers in the NFL. Collins is a guy that will rarely get beat deep. However, his weaknesses include his technique and overall experience at the position. He only started ten games at LSU at the CB position and hasn't had time to fully develop and refine his skills.
With that said, Hyde believes that Collins has the potential to be a top three corner from this year's draft class but it may take time for him to prove it. There are mixed opinions as to where Collins is projected to be selected, with some saying the first round while others are saying the second round. Hyde can see him coming off the board in the second but definitely no later than the third round
It appears that selecting Collins with the 14th pick would be a reach, so perhaps the Dolphins would look to trade down or hope that he's available in the second round when they are on the clock.
