On Saturday evening, Miami Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey was awarded the inaugural Steinberg-DeNicola Award for Humanitarian Service. This award, which was created by sports agents Leigh Steinberg and Cosmo DeNicola, is designed to recognize an owner, executive, coach and player who supports their community through charitable actions, service and more.
The owner who was awarded was Woody Johnson of the New York Jets. The coach who was awarded was Jeff Fisher of the St. Louis Rams. Finally, the player who was awarded was Jonathan Babineaux of the Atlanta Falcons. Hickey, who just completed his first season as general manager, works very closely on a regular basis with the Special Olympics programs throughout the Miami-Dade County area. In addition, Hickey hosts numerous events with Dolphins players and staff for those who participate in the Special Olympics. We congratulate Hickey on this accomplishment and look forward to another season with him as general manager. This story was written by Matthew Cannata. Follow him on Twitter: @PhinManiacs
