One of the most interesting names on that list is inside linebacker Denzel Perryman, who may be a target for the Dolphins in the second round. According to Jeff Hyde (Twitter: @Jeff__Hyde), analyst for the PhinManiacs Draft Guide, he has all the physical traits you are looking for in an NFL linebacker. He can lay the wood on any ball carrier or blocker at any moment and cause a game changing play. He is terrific at following the ball with his eyes, and pursuing the ball carrier until he’s flat on his back. His weaknesses include his lack of coverage skills and his inability to stay with the faster tight ends and other receivers that may come out of the backfield. Because of this, many don't expect Perryman to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Another interesting name and someone who will be likely considered in the second round if he's still on the draft board when the Dolphins pick is wide receiver Phillip Dorsett. According to Hyde, he is one of the fastest players in this year's draft class. He's also a guy that might not make every single play that comes his way, but you better believe that if he drops a pass, he’ll make up for the next one by taking a quick screen to the house. Hyde says that NFL teams will like his effortless speed, his quickness and tremendous route running, but what they’ll fall in love with is his infectious play style.
The NFL Draft is just a few weeks away so we'll find out sooner rather than later which direction the Dolphins go in. It will be interesting and exciting, especially with so many options that will be on the board in the first two rounds when the Dolphins are on the clock.
