![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs Not only did the Miami Dolphins lose to the Denver Broncos, they also suffered numerous injuries to key players on the team. During the course of the game, we saw Ja’Wuan James, Jared Odrick and Jamar Taylor come out at one point or another. Of those three, James and Taylor didn’t return and Taylor could be out for the season, according to various media reports. Despite that, those behind them were asked to step up and they did the best they could possibly do. Joe Philbin thought that the guys did pretty well but admitted they had better production in the first half when those guys were in the game than they did in the second half. However, he said it’s part of the game and it happens to everyone. “That’s football. We all know—they had some guys go down in the game too—it happens to everybody. We always prepare for that stuff.” Ja’Wuan James was one of the more important injuries coming out of the game and in his place, Jason Fox was asked to step in at left tackle, meaning the Dolphins had two inexperienced tackles protecting Tannehill. However, Thomas said those on the bench were ready to step up. “We practice if something happens, we’ve always got a guy ready to step in. I felt like [Dolphins T] Jason [Fox] came in, did a good job; he held his own. You just have to keep pushing and try to get the job done the best way you can.” For his own part, he said he felt like the offensive line played better as one unit compared to any other game this season. He noted that they were fighting against so much adversity and such a physical team, that they had no choice but to come together to work as one unit. As for Taylor, Lowell Rose and Walt Aikens worked together at the second cornerback position but the effects of losing him were felt. They did the best they could but as we all know, they need improvement and are raw at this point in their career. We’ll see what happens from here but it appears that the Dolphins are a team that’s hurting heading into Monday night’s showdown against the New York Jets.
