PhinManiacs.com mobile app now available for download for iOS phones!

After a lot of hard work, a few setbacks, some legal and copyright issues that Apple had issues with and finally some help from the Miami Dolphins legal department, the PhinManiacs.com mobile application is now available for all iOS phones! What does this mean? Essentially, if you have an Apple phone, you can download our application for FREE! Simply search for PhinManiacs on the App Store and get it on your phone so you can be the first one to get Dolphins news every day!

The plan to launch our mobile application came about shortly after the new year. To be honest, launching a mobile application is not cheap and costs well over $500 to work with a developer. Add in the individual fees to be a member of the developer program for both Apple and Google and you are talking roughly another $150. Then, add in the submission fees through the third party developer and you are talking another $100. 

As you can see that comes out to a little under $1,000. However, we knew the demand was high for mobile applications and this is just another step we are taking to become the go to destination for all Miami Dolphins fans. 

We worked hard to make it run as smoothly as possible without sacrificing graphics, design and text. Fortunately, we were able to push it right through the Google Play store without any issues. However, Apple is much stricter as they don't want to overload their store with many of the same types of applications and/or applications that don't meet their standards.

Everything was great until they saw the NFL images and the Miami Dolphins logo. They rejected our application and told us we could not make it available through their store with those images. We were stuck. We worked with our developer to get rid of the images but that just didn't seem right. As stated above, we did not want to put out a product that did not live up to our standards. Finally, I contacted the Miami Dolphins legal department and they were able to draft us a letter that essentially told Apple that all NFL images and logos distributed by the league and team can be used anywhere. Once Apple received that letter, they accepted it and continued to push our application through the long and tedious process.

But now, it's here! For those who don't have Apple phones but instead use Android, our application is available in the Google Play store, as we noted above. For those owning tablets, we do not offer the application at this time because it simply costs too much money. With that said, we are looking into launching one for tablets in 2016.
