![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs It’s hard enough to fight for a roster spot and hold off the other guys in a position group. It’s even harder when you’re standing on the sideline not participating because of an injury. Unfortunately, there are several players on the Dolphins who are currently in this situation. One player is running back Mike Gillislee, who is battling a hamstring injury. Another is defensive tackle AJ Francis, who is battling a knee injury. Then there’s Daniel Thomas, who hasn’t been on the field since the first preseason game. When asked if Thomas needs to play well on Thursday to keep his job, Philbin was non-committal in his answer. “It is important for his sake, our sake, to get him out on the field. We want to see what he can do” In addition to those players, fifth round pick Arthur Lynch, a tight end, is battling a back injury that he suffered over the summer. While Lynch thinks he is ready to go, the Dolphins have considered placing him on injured reserve. “I am healthy enough to do things,” he said. “I fully intend to play in games. It’s up to Dennis Hickey [if the Dolphins want to put him on IR.] My body is healing."
