The Miami Dolphins have signed free agent wide receiver Greg Jennings to a two-year contract. “I am happy to announce that we have reached an agreement with Greg and would like to welcome him to the Miami Dolphins,” said Dolphins General Manager Dennis Hickey. “Greg brings a track record of success and is a proven player who can help strengthen the offense.” The 6-0, 195-pound Jennings joins Miami after spending the previous two seasons (2013-14) with the Minnesota Vikings following a seven-year stint (2006-12) with the Green Bay Packers. He originally was a second-round selection (52nd overall) of the Packers in the 2006 NFL draft. In his career, he has played in 127 regular season games with 114 starts and 10 playoff games with eight starts, including tallying four receptions for 64 yards and two touchdowns en route to a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. He also has appeared in two Pro Bowls (2010-11). In the regular season, he has recorded 552 receptions for 8,083 yards (14.6 avg.) and 63 touchdowns. Since entering the NFL in 2006, Jennings’ 552 receptions rank 11th, his 8,083 yards are 12th and his 63 touchdowns are the fifth-most among wide receivers. In 2014 with Minnesota, Jennings appeared in all 16 games with 13 starts and led the team in every major receiving category with 59 catches for 742 yards and six touchdowns. Jennings played collegiately at Western Michigan where he finished his career as the school’s all-time leader in receptions (238), touchdown receptions (39) and all-purpose yards (5,093). His 3,539 receiving yards ranked second in the school’s history. He became just the 11th player in NCAA Division I history to record three career 1,000-yard receiving seasons (2003-05). He was a third-team All-America selection by the Associated Press and received Second-Team honors by Sports Illustrated following his senior season. That same season, he was the Mid-American Conference’s Vern Smith Leadership Award winner (conference MVP) along with the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the 1st player to win both awards since 1997. Additionally, he was the first wide receiver drafted out of Western Michigan. Born September 21, 1983, Jennings attended Kalamazoo Central High School in Kalamazoo, Mich.
