The Miami Dolphins have signed unrestricted free agent tight end Jordan Cameron to a two-year contract, it was announced on Thursday evening..

“I am pleased to announce that the Miami Dolphins have come to an agreement with Jordan Cameron,” said Dolphins General Manager Dennis Hickey. “He is a young, proven Pro Bowl performer with playmaking ability that will positively impact our team.”

The 6-5, 249-pound Cameron joins Miami after spending the previous four seasons (2011-14) with the Cleveland Browns. In his career, he has appeared in 47 games with 31 starts and recorded 130 receptions for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns. In his first year as a full-time starter in 2013, Cameron had a breakout campaign in which he hauled in 80 receptions for 917 yards and seven touchdowns en route to being selected to the Pro Bowl. His 80 receptions were the third-most among NFL tight ends and 917 receiving yards were the second-most by a tight end. His seven touchdown receptions were the most by a Browns tight end since Hall of Famer Ozzie Newsome tallied nine in 1979.

In 2014, Cameron played in 10 games with nine starts and recorded 24 receptions for 424 yards (17.7 avg.) and two touchdowns. His 17.7 average yards per reception was the highest in the NFL among all tight ends with at least 20 catches and his season-long reception of 81 yards was also the longest reception among all NFL tight ends.

Cameron played collegiately at Southern California (2008-10) after transferring from Ventura Junior College (2007) and Brigham Young (2006). At USC, he appeared in 23 games and, during his senior season, he recorded 16 receptions for 126 yards and one touchdown. He notched 22 catches for 340 yards and four touchdowns in his lone season at Ventura where he helped the team achieve a WSC Pacific Division title. He originally attended BYU and redshirted as a forward on the school’s basketball team prior to transferring. Cameron also walked on to the USC basketball team for the 2008-09 season and appeared in three games. Born Aug. 7, 1988, Cameron attended Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California.
