While it's still quiet in Davie, news has been coming from other places. Throughout this entire week, I have said that the Dolphins are in the driver's seat and it will all come down to Stephen Ross wanting to open his wallet. On Saturday afternoon, I tweeted that my confidence level had soared to 90 as things were progressing the way they should have. Around 10:30 PM on Saturday, I was told that Ndamukong Suh to the Dolphins is a done deal and the team was ready to offer as much as $59 million dollars in guaranteed money.
A little after midnight, Jason Cole of Bleacher Report reported that a high-ranking source told him with confidence that Suh to the Dolphins would happen. Obviously, this isn't coming from the team so it's not official and of course, things can change. I am not saying it is official either. I am just simply telling you that I was told that Suh to the Dolphins is a done deal. Many other NFL insiders continue to talk as if Suh to the Dolphins is a done deal as well. As I reported yesterday, Miami is Suh's first choice. I can also tell you that RocNation, the marketing firm that Suh hired last year, is pushing Miami and that is their number one choice as well. What can change though? The Oakland Raiders lost out on Randall Cobb so they might feel as if they need to throw a blockbuster number out there that no team can possibly match. The Raiders would be able to do this as they have an enormous amount of cap space. However, from everything I have been told, the Raiders are simply leverage at this point. The other team that was mentioned to still be in the mix was the Detroit Lions. However, as I said yesterday, the Lions are very hesitant to match this kind of money that Suh will be offered. In fact, they've already turned their attention to trying to re-sign Nick Fairley. Stay tuned to PhinManiacs.com over the next few days and if you're not following me on Twitter: @PhinManiacs, be sure to do so to receive instant updates. There is still have ground to cover but everything right now is headed in the right direction and if everything stays on course, Suh will be a member of the Dolphins on Tuesday shortly after 4 PM EST.
