Rodney Barreto is the head of the South Florida Super Bowl Bid Committee and plans to make a bid to host Super Bowl 53 but is just waiting on the NFL to begin the formal application process. The application, which many thought would be due in August, has been put on hold by the NFL with no timeline determined when the bidding process will begin.
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross recently decided to use private dollars to renovate the entire stadium - new seats, new roof, new concourse and pretty much everything else you can think of. Ross said that the stadium, once complete, will be like a brand new one.
South Florida hasn't hosted a Super Bowl since 2010 due to the fact that the stadium wasn't up to the NFL's standards as one of the best in the league. With renovations already underway and expected to be complete by the end of the 2016 season, South Florida should find itself back in the rotation relatively soon.
