The Miami Dolphins have signed wide receiver LaRon Byrd, it was announced on Wednesday, April 15. The 6-4, 220-pound Byrd played in one game for the Cleveland Browns in 2014 and also spent time that season on the Dallas Cowboys and Miami practice squads. He spent his first two NFL seasons (2012-13) with the Arizona Cardinals and appeared in four games in 2012, recording one reception for eight yards, prior to being placed on injured reserve for the entire 2013 season. He originally signed with Arizona as an undrafted college free agent on April 30, 2012.
Byrd played collegiately at Miami (Fla.) where he appeared in 51 games with 16 starts and finished his Hurricane career with 106 receptions for 1,254 yards (11.8 avg.) and seven touchdowns. While at Miami, he also received the Hurricane media Good Guy Award as a senior and was named to the All-ACC Academic team as a freshman. Born August 18, 1989, Byrd attended Hahnville High School in Hahnville, La.
