![]() Keep it Simple, Keep it Real - Written by Mike Trevithick | Twitter: @denverfinfan In my last column, I promised to write more about the players that might help fill some of the gaps on offense and defense for our Dolphins. Since then, we’ve had our first few practices in the aftermath of the second preseason game and have some insight into what the coaches might be thinking. One thing that is apparent is that rookies, no matter how much they flash, appear to have a hard time cracking the starting line-up under Joe Philbin. This was the case for Dion Jordan last year (though his health and preparedness were definite issues) and appears to be a barrier for guard Billy Turner along with linebackers Jordan Tripp and Chris McCain. Ja’Waun James appears to be the only exception to this rule. Philbin may be wise to be cautious when he has other options as he did with Jordan last year, but when an entire unit is screaming for an upgrade as is the case with our linebackers this year, it’s hard to justify so much caution. Nevertheless, I will be mindful of Philbin’s caution as I attempt to project for you the positions which are likely to feature new starters in the first week of the regular season. > Click here to read the rest of the column!
