By: Ron Hiatt With the trade deadline rapidly nearing a close, the Miami Dolphins made two trades as of the late afternoon on Tuesday. The first trade was a rare, inner-division deal with Miami sending wide receiver Isaiah Ford to the Patriots for a conditional late round pick.
This trade benefits both teams and the player. Miami has many young weapons in Malcolm Perry, Lynn Bowden, and newly off suspension Antonio Calloway. Ford goes to the Patriots where he surely will get more playing time and has familiarity with the Patriots system from previous OC Chad O’Shea. The second trade made as the deadline rapidly came to end Miami sent a late round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for running back DeAndre Washington. The Dolphins running game has not been up to expectations, so this trade gives the Dolphins six running backs on the roster. I don’t see the Dolphins keeping six running backs so look for a move forth coming either a cut or a move to the practice squad. Myles Gaskin is nursing an MCL injury and good miss time as well.
